Lubrication is an important part of the fin forming process. New stock lubrication technology helps optimize fin mill performance and allows the mill to operate at high speeds. Keeping the dies cleaner and minimizing build-up keeps the stock flowing off the dies smoothly.
Drip and roller systems provide no way to accurately control the amount of oil transferred from the stock onto the dies. However, the MicroCoat® lubrication system by EFD Inc. applies a fine, even film of oil, exactly where needed, using precision spray valves, a pneumatically operated valve controller and a lubricant reservoir. This efficient lubrication system increases die life, helps to keep fin heights within tolerance and cuts lubrication use by 50% or more.
Innovative features include:
- Low Volume Low Pressure (LVLP) air used to apply a uniform lubricant coating without drip, waste or overspray.
- Individual Flow Controls to fine-tune each valve's output independently and give the mill operator precise control over the amount of lubricant applied.
- Lubrication Controls are wired into the Fin Mill controls to automatically begin lubrication when mill starts to ensure consistent lubrication and stop instantly when mill shuts down to eliminate drip.
- Float Switch in oil reservoir for automatic mill shut-off when tank is low.
